Live In Support

What is live in support?

Live in support is a newer concept in eating disorder recovery. From 24/7 support in home or at a neutral location, a live in coach is the missing puzzle piece to many adapting into a new environment or lifestyle.

Live in coaching is another level of recovery support. I understand that letting someone into your home at your most vulnerable time can be really difficult and even…“weird.” Since I am so big on connection, I really emphasize meeting you where you are at and creating the most comfortable experience possible. I am much less of a clinical live in coach, and more of a “real life” coach.

I love nothing more than taking a dance class, cooking, or even teaching a client how to relax watching a movie. Meals are prepared and eaten together, I believe in letting the client have some say in what that will look like.

The goal of this is to adjust into real life and be able to fly on your own. Everyone has a different view of what that will look like, and I am here to assist you in creating your own, authentic life.

I have done over 10 live ins—full time (24/7 support), part time (supplementing a PHP/IOP program), and as needed (certain nights or events that may be challenging). The length of time can range from a few days to a month or more.

If you are interested you can text me to find out more or to schedule a consultation call.

What live in support can include:

  • 24/7 support for meals, processing, and life skill work

  • Cooking skills and recipes

  • Grocery shopping, shopping for clothing or other house hold needs

  • Communication with PHP or IOP team if applicable

  • Creating and playing out coping skill techniques

  • Real life experiences: traveling, shopping, doing something FUN that you are passionate about again

  • Family support and communication

  • Support and accountability with food, exercise urges, self harm urges, etc.

“I’ve loved having Shelbye as a live in coach. She helps hold me accountable while also providing encouragement as well as effective support when I’m having a breakdown. She also keeps it fun. We do a  lot of hard things of course but she is always coming up with things to do to have a good time in between the really difficult moments.”

The Details

A minimum of two sessions (in person or virtual) is required before live in support can be offered. This ensures that we have gotten to know each other a little bit, built a connection, and have a starting point for our time together.
